Death guard “clean”

This is relatively clean painting for Death Guards, and additionally, very simple and easy to replicate.

Armor

For the base color of the armor, I used GW Death Guard Green, which I then dry-brushed with GW Nurgling Green.

Next, I covered the whole thing with VGC Plague Green (it’s a type of paint similar to GW’s contrast paints), and then lightly dry-brushed it again with GW Nurgling Green, limiting myself as much as possible to the edges.

Cloths

As a base color, I most likely used GW Mephiston Red, then applied SC Antares Red and AK Deep Red, and finally glazed lightly with GW Carroburg Crimson in the recesses.

The exact colors aren’t crucial here; the most important thing is to start with a strong red, moving towards lighter shades. I didn’t mix paints or add anything to the red because adding yellow would turn the red more orange, and adding white would make it more pink. The final level of highlights leans towards pink, but because I only used reds of varying intensity, the cloths still give the impression of a strong red.

Metal

For the steel elements, I used VGC Chainmail, or alternatively GW Leadbelcher, and then covered them with GW Nuln Oil and dry-brushed again with the base color.

For the bronze elements, I covered them with GW Balthasar Gold and then dry-brushed with VMC Copper.

Bones and Spikes

As a base, I used GW Wraithbone and then washed them with VGC Sepia, after which I enhanced the highlights with the base color.

Flesh

The base color is VGC Warlord Purple, which I highlighted by adding VMC Ice Yellow to the base color, and then washed the whole thing with GW Druchii Violet.
